Tips For Learning A New Language // Tips Para Aprender Un Idioma Nuevo

Although starting a new language is exhilarating and super fun, it can often be frustrating and confusing to take the first steps. For this reason, today I bring you different alternatives to get a little out of study books and classes and thus be able to learn more on your own.

Change the language of your devices // Cambiarle el idioma a los dispositivos

This is a fairly easy way to learn new words every day, although it maybe a bit confusing at first.

Movies, shows, podcasts or youtubers // Películas, series, podcasts o youtubers

A key to learning a new language is exercising your ear, and get used to how a native speaks. Therefore, watching and/or listening movies, shows, podcasts or youtubers gives us the opportunity to become familiar with pronunciation and vocabulary. In addition, (except for the podcast), if you addsubtitles to the products you consume, you can also learn to "read" -in a certain way- in that language.

App Tandem (Free // Gratis)

It is an app to meet people from all over the world and practice languagesby chat, audio or videocall. In the profile, you must put what language/s you're learning, which ones you know and what level you have (beginner-intermediate-advanced).It’s a very good tool to speak with natives and you can also make friends fromother countries.

News // Noticias

It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, searching for newspapers in thatlanguage (it may be about a topic you like) is super good for practicingreading and, also, finding out what happens in countries that speak thelanguage you are learning.

5 Phrases // 5 Frases

Another idea is to write down five sentences (or more) of what you dideach day, in the language you are studying. It is ideal to try not to repeatthe vocabulary and wait until completing the sentences to correct the grammar.Afterwards, it is advisable to pronounce the sentences aloud and, that way, youpractice the pronunciation.

Listen to music in that language //Escuchar música en ese idioma

It’s a fun way to learn and discover new music. Doing this, you canunderstand the titles of the songs, look for the lyrics and see their meaningand, if you dare, even sing it. If you don't know a lot of music in thelanguage you are learning, on Spotify or Youtube it’s very easy to search forlists created by other users.

What If I'm Not Specialized On Anything? And Being Too Young

In December I finished my last year of college and graduated as a journalist. Studying journalism had crossed my mind since I can remember what I wanted to do with my “adult” life. After 4 years, my idea of journalism was not the same as when I first saw "The life of David Gale" and convinced myself that journalism was important because the stories it told mattered and deserved to be heard. And journalism was the possibility of not only telling those stories, but also bringing them to a large audience that, if it were not for the media, would not find out that certain things are happening, and, furthermore, could lead to action, to make an actual change. I always saw journalism as a service, I believed it was a way to help, to leave a mark. I think that basically all my career options were aimed at helping others: from studying social services to flight attendant. At the root was an act of service to another human being. But, as with most things in life, there is a stretch from saying to doing, and the idea I had in my head was not the same in real life. I still find it hard to accept that many of my ideas about what I wanted to become may never happen. I know that I am young and that it is a little (too) dramatic for me to say things like "I will never be x" when, as Steinbeck would say, the way is open.

I suppose it’s a centennial syndrome to feel that time is never enough and that, if it is not now, it will never be. I always had a problem to see the future, but also to fully enjoy the present. I feel that the future is always hunting me.

So, I go to Linkedin, weremoto, freelance, joobles, any online job search page cross your mind and I always read the same job requested "specialized in ..." and I am shocked. How are you specialized in something at 22 years old? the term chokes me a little. I know several things, but specialist? I really admire people who know everything about a particular thing.. It seems to me that this implies a dedication and effort that not everyone is willing to do, or is not capable of. But it also becomes a problem when trying to find a space in this world. What does it mean if I don't specialize in something? The term reduces me, it makes me feel that if I choose a route, I cannot deviate to take another, because it’s a straight line, or well, yes, maybe it has some curves, but in the end, there’s only one destination. And the world is just too big, there’s so many things to learn and discover.. and sometimes I just want it all.

Sometimes I would like to have a magic ball that would tell me the future, like those black ones that give you an answer to your questions with a "no / yes / don’t know" but I want an answer that is real, with foundations, arguments and other explanations. Maybe it's fear. Maybe it's thinking that what if I'm wrong? everyone says you can start again, that you are young. Maybe I’m too young? And what happens when you are no longer young and can’t start again? Perhaps what I’m trying to say with this maze of words is that having an open field in front of you can sometimes become overwhelming, threatening, and hard, full of fear. And that sometimes they say that you’re "too young", but they seem to forget that although being very young has many positive things, it has a lot of uncertainty and heaviness.

My favorite word is "timshel" and, as I repeated above, Steinbeck wrote it. He says, and I quote from his book literally:  "But the Hebrew word, the word timshel—‘Thou mayest’—that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open.” I always thought it was very true and beautiful, and that's why I tattooed it on my wrist a few years ago, in an attempt to make it a constant reminder that you can be conditioned, but never determined.

Anyway, I would love to know if you ever felt this way, and, if you did, how are you doing?

What I've Been Reading Lately // Qué Estuve Leyendo Últimamente

Hi everybody! How are you doing?

To be honest I only have few things to be grateful for during lockdown.. and one of them is falling in love with reading again. So far this year I´ve read 39 books, plays and essays. Of course, I won't be boring you reviewing all of them, so I chose my favourite 5:

  1. The Grapes of Wrath - John Steinbeck:

My biggest problem with Steinbeck is that I can’t be objective. Never. I just love all that I read from him. With this book, Steinbeck won the Pulitzer Prize. The novel is based on the time of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl migration of the 1930s and tells the story of one Oklahoma farm family, the Joads—driven from their homestead and forced to travel west to the promised land of California.

Out of their trials and their repeated collisions against the hard realities of an America divided into Haves and Have-Nots evolves a drama that is intensely human yet majestic in its scale and moral vision, elemental yet plainspoken, tragic but ultimately stirring in its human dignity.

A portrait of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless, of one man’s fierce reaction to injustice, and of one woman’s stoical strength, the novel captures the horrors of the Great Depression and probes into the very nature of equality and justice in America.

  1. Mouthful of Forevers - Clementine von Radics:

Titled after the poem that burned up on Tumblr and has inspired wedding vows, paintings, songs, YouTube videos, and even tattoos among its fans, Mouthful of Forevers brings the first substantial collection of this gifted young poet’s work to the public.

Clementine von Radics writes of love, loss, and the uncertainties and beauties of life with a ravishing poetic voice and piercing bravura that speak directly not only to the sensibility of her generation, but to anyone who has ever been young.

  1. Three Blind Mice -  Agatha Christie:

This is a short story about the residents of a guest house who find themselves trapped with a murderer when there’s a huge snowden. Nothing to add. Christie's prose has a way of catching you and making you want to devour every single page.

  1. Elephant and Other Stories - Raymond Carver:

These seven stories were the last that Carver wrote. Among them is Errand in which he imagines the death of Chekhov, a writer Carver hugely admired and to whose work his own was often compared.

  1. Animal Farm - George Orwell:

It took me some years, but I finally read Animal Farm. I’ve only read 1984 by Orwell and I truly loved it, so I had high expectations for this one. And they were fulfill.

A farm is taken over by its overworked, mistreated animals. With flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. Thus the stage is set for one of the most telling satiric fables ever penned –a razor-edged fairy tale for grown-ups that records the evolution from revolution against tyranny to a totalitarianism just as terrible.

When Animal Farm was first published, Stalinist Russia was seen as its target. Today it is devastatingly clear that wherever and whenever freedom is attacked, under whatever banner, the cutting clarity and savage comedy of George Orwell’s masterpiece have a meaning and message still ferociously fresh.

I hope that some of these titles have caught your attention (if you didn't know them) and decided to give them a try! You won’t regret it.

Finding The Right Item At Lover Beauty

Hi everybody! hope you're doing well. Today I'm going to be writing about Lover-Beauty, which is a famous professional manufacturer and supplier of women's clothing. The company offers Lingerie Wholesale and Lingerie Dropship with the leading sexiest designs.

What I like about Lover-Beauty is that they always provide costumers with high-quality products at competitive factory-direct prices.

Since summer is coming in half of the world, this is the perfect opportunity to buy wholesale bikinis. The offer of Lover-Beauty is really wide. They have bikinis of all types, styles and colors. Their prices are super cheap, and they have a range of between 4 and 9 dollars.

There is also a variety of sizes and, something that I find super interesting is that when you click on any item, you can also know  how many units are left of each product and, in addition, they have a 15-day guaranteed return. Also, under the product they offer you details of the same, making the choice easier and ensuring that you choose the ideal bikini according to your preference!

But, if you also want to buy a swimsuit instead of a bikini, they also have a great offer in the section "wholesale plus size swimwear". Personally, I think that it is good to alter between wearing a bikini and a swimsuit, I find it more fun to have something of each style. Again, I was super impressed with the variety of patterns and colors they have: plain, colorful bathing suits with flowers, palm trees and more. Prices are in the range of 6 and 13 dollars, and sizes range from S to 5XXL (depends on the model).

Like I mentioned above, under the product they offer you details of the same, making the choice easier and ensuring that you choose the ideal bikini according to your preference, and I think it's a great idea when you have to purchase anything.

Hope you find the right item for this summer at lover beauty!
