The South // El Sur

lunes, febrero 13, 2017

I've always had something with the south of any country in the world. Usually, it's the place that I liked the most. And the south of Chile was not the excepction.

We went to Pucon, that is a beautiful town nestled beside Lake Villarrica and is dominated by the smoking Villarrica Volcano constantly looming on the not-so-far horizon, which is great for pictures haha. The town itself is small enough to walk around in an hour or so which is quite worthwhile.
In Pucon, you can go volcano climbing, relaxing in thermal pools or just hang out on the black sand beach beside the lake. The Trancura River nearby has white water rafting as well as fly-fishing. There are also many activities like catering to all tastes from a luxurious night at the casino to a night out at the pub with your mates.

Then we went to Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt and Frutillar. Puerto Varas, known as The City of Roses, complements its outstanding geography with excellent service, especially in gastronomy. It welcomes visitors with the best restaurants where menus rely mainly on fish and seafood as well as traditional desserts, pies and tarts of European origin. The town was founded by the germans so there's a lot of respect and buildings, schools, restaurants and more about the country of the old continent. Is really charming and you feel like time stopped and you went back a few centuries. You get to relax so much there, and I really didn't want to come back home when I was there. You can go to eat to all the gourmet resturant they have, or have a trip around Lake Llanquihue in a really cool boat, or fly around the pacific ocean, and more.
Después fuimos  Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt y Frutillar.

Finally, we went to Santa Cruz and Machali. In Santa Cruz we visit a few wineries. And I love Viu Manent because the view was just so relaxing and peaceful, and the attention was great. In Machali we stay in a hotel that was literally in the middle of the mountain. We have to drive for an hour in ripe and it was so scary at the end of it, like we thought we were never going to get there. But we finally did, and it was really worth it. The hotel was amazing, and the only sad thing was that due to the forest fires that were happening in Chile, the sky was unclear and we couldn't see the stars. So we went back to our rooms and we watch some movies instead.
I wanted to add some pictures of the Cordillera of Los Andes because is just too pretty to not share it with you.
